Today's Headlines

Here is a listing of some headlines that can be found on internet "news" sites today:

- IRS tells agents they can read emails without a warrant.

- SoS Kerry tries to downplay report that PRK can arm a ballistic missile with a nuclear
  warhead.

- New science standards to push climate change in new K-12 curriculum.

- Senate votes on gun bill before its even written.

- U.S. gives four more F-16s to Egypt despite outcry.

- MO highway patrol gave feds list of concealed permit holders.

- Rep. Smith gives scathing speech from House floor on media blackout of gruesome trial
  of "abortion" doctor.

What is wrong with people?  Why is there no outcry about any of this?  Are Americans really that stupid and sheepish that they will just lay down and accept whatever the statists want to do to them?  Are you really so naive to believe "they won't do anything with that information"?  Do you really not know the history of the USSR? Nazi Germany? Mao? N. Korea? Pol Pot? Idi Amin? Cuba? the South after the Civil War?  Wake up people!  You are being enslaved before your very eyes and don't respond.  America was great because America was good.  What happens when her leaders are no longer good people?

What's Really Going On Here?

I have some left-leaning friends who are not your typical low-info drones; they are very intelligent, thinking people.  This post is aimed at them.

There is an awful lot of political rhetoric out there right now demonizing the NRA and anyone who believes in the 2nd Amendment.  There are many bills in state and federal legislatures aiming to take away "assault rifles" (most of which are not), "high-capacity magazines" and even regular old shotguns.  Yesterday Charles Rangel (D-NY) said we have to get rid of guns because "millions of inner city kids are being killed."  Can we look at some facts here and get some perspective please?

2012 Statistics (USA)

- 8583 deaths in which a gun was used (Sorry Charley, not millions.  You might be even
more clueless than Al Gore and his "just a few miles beneath the surface of the Earth its
a million degrees."  Why do intelligent thinking liberals overlook this kind of garbage?)
And while I don't have the exact number, many of these were perpetrated by bad guys
with illegally owned hand guns, not "assault rifles."

- 40,000 + deaths in automobile accidents.  Can't remember any legislation to ban cars.

- 10,000 + deaths perpetrated with hands or feet.  Yes its true, more people killed by
hands and feet than guns.  Honestly, are guns really the problem here or is there
  something else going on?

On a seemingly unrelated note, the Department of Homeland Security has now stockpiled enough ammunition to fight the Iraq war for another 24 years.  (The Pentagon released a report detailing how much ammunition was used per year in the recent Iraq war. Ammunition stockpiled by DHS was compared to this data to come up with this scenario.) Why does DHS need so much ammunition?

You can call this conspiracy theory if you like, but I would ask you to use your critical thinking skills for a few minutes and ask yourself the "why" questions posed by this data.

What's really going on here America?

The more things change...

"I am mortified beyond expression, whenever I view the clouds that have spread over...my country...For it is hardly to be imagined that the great body of the people...can be so enveloped in darkness or shortsighted as not to see the distant rays of the sun through all this mist of intoxication and folly."

LIM - part 2

Again, not a lot of time to write but a lot of frustration to release.
Regarding the March 1 "Sequester" discussion, the President said this week, "These cuts are not smart. They are not fair. They will hurt our economy. They will add hundreds of thousands of Americans to the unemployment rolls...This is not an abstraction -- people will lose their jobs." YOU ARE THE FOOL WHO PROPOSED THEM! Quit trying to blame others for your lack of leadership!  Numerous "new media" outlets have trumpeted this fact this week but the state-run media is far more concerned about Sen. Rubio taking a drink during a speech and that they didn't get to hang around while the President played golf with Tiger over the weekend.  What a joke you are!  Come on people it's time to stand up and say "NO" to these incompetents.

Low Information Media

By now I am sure you have heard the term "low information voters" used to describe those whose primary information outlets are Entertainment Tonight and TMZ (Okay they might watch one of the state-run outlets occasionally - ABC, CBS, NBC, MSNBC, CNN) and that these voters tend to favor democrats.  Well here is the connection between the low info voters and their low info networks:  On February 9th, CNN anchor Deborah Feyerick was interviewing Bill Nye "The Science Guy."  She asked Bill a question about the asteroid DA14, which passed its closest to Earth this afternoon - only 17,200 miles above the planet's surface.  She questioned, "What's coming our way?  Is this an effect of, perhaps, global warming?"  GLOBAL WARMING?  So now humans are heating up the entire solar system?  Are you kidding me?  The socialists and their cronies are so bought into man-made global warming, they have been inculcated into it for so long, they don't need to even include it in their thought process anymore, it just comes spewing out of their mouths.  Fortunately Bill Nye, though himself a climate change legislation advocate, was enough of a scientist to set the poor confused anchor straight.  Unbelievable.

The Answer to our Jobs Problem Is...K4?

There are so many things that could be said about the SOTU speech last night but with little time to write I thought I would comment on the one I found most amusing.  The President said last night that the best way to improve our workforce is Free Preschool For All!  Really?  I am trying to stay in my chair and not fall on the floor laughing.  This is what passes for leadership in the 21st century?  What a joke.  Mr. President, before you open your mouth and prove the fool you are, maybe you should do a little research.  Might I suggest the State Budget Solutions Study that shows spending more money on education does NOT produce better ACT scores?  Perhaps the study by your own Department of Health and Human Services which found that big vocabulary and social development gains for at-risk students in pre-kindergarten programs also found those effects largely faded by the time pupils reached third grade?  This cult of personality thing has got to stop.  We need a leader not a celebrity.

Let's get this out of the way right from the top.

Who am I? (I'm Jean Valjean!  Sorry, just saw Les Mis on the big screen tonight.)

Since I plan to discuss the taboo twins of politics and religion here, I will answer in light of those two subjects:

I am a conservative with a brain.  I am NOT republican!  They are democrat lite, NOT conservative.  I think before I speak (most of the time) and I cannot be put in a box like the parties and the media like to do.  I believe that the US Constitution is the most intelligent document ever created.  I believe it has brought freedom to more people than any other form of government in world history.  And I believe it is under assault from both sides of the political aisle by people who don't understand it and don't care to.  Is it a perfect plan for government?  Of course not!  But I believe it is the best fallen humans will be able to do this side of Heaven.

Which brings me to the second subject, religion.  I am a follower of Jesus Christ but do not ask me where I go to church.  I believe that denominations are from the pit of hell.  Jesus said His followers would be known by their love for one another.  That is not possible today when we add multiple new denominations every year.  Splitting believers from one another is a very poor way of showing love for one another.  I do my very best to follow Christ's two greatest commandments:  Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength; and love your neighbor as yourself.  I love that Paul said we should "in humility, value others above yourselves." (Philippians 2:3, NIV)  I think if more people tried to live that way it would solve most of our problems.  Am I perfect in this?  Of course not! But I think I am making my world a better place by trying.
