Who am I? (I'm Jean Valjean! Sorry, just saw Les Mis on the big screen tonight.)
Since I plan to discuss the taboo twins of politics and religion here, I will answer in light of those two subjects:
I am a conservative with a brain. I am NOT republican! They are democrat lite, NOT conservative. I think before I speak (most of the time) and I cannot be put in a box like the parties and the media like to do. I believe that the US Constitution is the most intelligent document ever created. I believe it has brought freedom to more people than any other form of government in world history. And I believe it is under assault from both sides of the political aisle by people who don't understand it and don't care to. Is it a perfect plan for government? Of course not! But I believe it is the best fallen humans will be able to do this side of Heaven.
Which brings me to the second subject, religion. I am a follower of Jesus Christ but do not ask me where I go to church. I believe that denominations are from the pit of hell. Jesus said His followers would be known by their love for one another. That is not possible today when we add multiple new denominations every year. Splitting believers from one another is a very poor way of showing love for one another. I do my very best to follow Christ's two greatest commandments: Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength; and love your neighbor as yourself. I love that Paul said we should "in humility, value others above yourselves." (Philippians 2:3, NIV) I think if more people tried to live that way it would solve most of our problems. Am I perfect in this? Of course not! But I think I am making my world a better place by trying.
Strive for greater things my friends!
Chris
